Hollow Earth Theory Part 1

A primer on the world below

What if everything we know about our planet is a lie? According to the Hollow Earth Theory, the Earth isn’t a solid sphere with molten rock and a metal core. Instead, it’s hollow, housing vast subterranean landscapes, hidden civilizations, and untold mysteries. Sound crazy? Perhaps. But let’s dig deeper—literally.

This idea gained traction in the 17th and 18th centuries, championed by thinkers like Edmund Halley (of Halley’s Comet fame). Halley proposed that the Earth had concentric layers with a hollow center. Fast-forward to the 19th century, and eccentric American explorer John Cleves Symmes Jr. claimed there were massive entrances to this inner world at the North and South Poles. He even petitioned Congress to fund an expedition!

But what’s supposed to be inside the Earth? Some versions of the theory describe lush inner landscapes bathed in light from a central sun. Others claim ancient, advanced civilizations—like the fabled Agartha—reside there. UFO enthusiasts even speculate that extraterrestrials originate from within our own planet.
